I wrote a series of books about beans and peas, and after a while I realized it just made sense that if the books ever became popular, a certain percentage of each book sale should go to a food bank. And while the Sweet Pea books were not written with childhood poverty and food insecurity in mind, these issues have concerned me for some time. 

Because I believe in acting locally, one of the organizations I would support is the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Child Food Hub. If you choose not to purchase one of the picture books, consider donating to your local food bank instead. If you prefer to think globally, I would also recommend the World Central Kitchen or the World Food Program USA. These are efforts I also support and believe in.
